Future generations of vehicles depend on modern emission control systems and hybrid technologies, while electromobility is becoming a key technology for upcoming cars.

Meeting these new challenges will require sophisticated technology and Process Control plays a significant role here as accurate data measurement. Accuracy is required even under extreme conditions such as high temperature variations, harsh environments and heavy mechanical stress.

Platinum sensors ensure the accuracy and reliability you need for your applications. With their help, you get accurate and constant measurement data with few variations, even over long periods of time and in the range of –40°C to 1050°C. Excellent chemical and mechanical stability and resistance to moisture, weather and other environmental factors provide reproducible measurements over tens of thousands of cycles, thus ensuring the necessary safety in continuous operation.

Due to this unique combination, we are your first choice for developing reliable  and innovative solutions. We will work together with you to find the best solution for your needs and support you since the initial idea, through design, to technical support in series production.

Catalytic converter

A catalytic converter is an emission control device that converts toxic gases and pollutants in the exhaust gases into less toxic pollutants, catalyzing a redox reaction (an oxidation reaction and a reduction reaction). Catalytic converters are used with internal combustion engines powered by fuel (gasoline) or diesel—including lean-burn engines as well as kerosene heaters and stoves.

Some temperature information is needed to produce the optimal exhaust treatment, particularly in diesel exhaust systems. For this application, Sensor Technology has developed special probes that cover the entire temperature range, up to 1000°C.

In addition, our temperature sensors are also used as component protection (overheating protection).

Temperature sensor design

High-temperature measuring elements are available in different lengths for temperatures up to 1050°C, a value that is rarely needed in diesel technology, where temperatures up to 750°C are common.

There are two elements, 24 mm long type HA 2421 and 4 mm long type HA 421. The longer version is suitable for open installation due to its very short response time, while the short version is a very robust designed model for installation in closed areas.
